Straw Dot

A large decrease in the moths caught last Saturday, 22nd September - only 6 moths. Minimum Temperature overnight was only 6.0 degrees centigrade so its not surprising there were so few.

There was a new species for the year though - Straw Dot. It flew away before I could get a photo so here's one I took last year!

It's that time of year again when moths start to decrease. It's the same here with our butterflies and moths as well. Lack of moisture and cooler temps.....but that first moth is very interesting:) Hope you have a good weekend.

Rohrerbot - You are right Chris - it will be a downward spiral for moth numbers until I stop trapping in about 6 weeks when Garden Moth Scheme finishes.

Have a great weekend too!

I have just realised that in six weeks time it will be November. Grumpy face on now.
